Those with psoriasis noticed an incredible improvement in their condition. Evening at leisure to enjoy the city.

Day 2 Depart the City to E15 Snowmobiling and Introduction to the South Shore (Self Drive)

This morning, we will deliver your car to your hotel at 9:00 am. You will have a meet and greet by our representative who will give you instructions of your self-drive program. Begin your self-drive adventure with a full day drive South East towards the Eyjafjallajokull Volcano Glacier. The legendary Eyjafjallajokull is the Icelandic volcano which brought European air traffic to a standstill in 2010. Also famous for having an unpronounceable name, E15 (for short) is completely covered by a massive 100 km2 ice cap.

While the south is certainly spectacular from ‘below’ nothing beats experiencing it from ‘above’! Snowmobiling on top of Eyjafjallajökull glacier is an extraordinary experience.

This snowmobile experience is the perfect length of time for first-time riders and individuals looking for a scenic, fun ride, exploring and experiencing the wilderness, the glacier and the breathtaking views over South Iceland in good weather. The tour starts from our base. After a short briefing, we dress up in the snow suit and step into the Super Jeep. We then drive up the mountain, onto the glacier where we pick up the snowmobiles and ride to the glacier Eyjafjallajökull, if lucky and weather cooperates, we may reach the crater!

Currently the snowmobile experience is priced with one snowmobile for two riders. This can be changed to 1 traveler riding one, with a small increase in the price.

The glacier adventure will provide stunning photo opportunities in good weather. We provide you with everything you need for a safe and comfortable ride – bring only yourself. Our guides will take you through safety procedures and equip you in special clothing and helmets. The next highlight of the day is the impressive Seljalandsfoss waterfall; here you can walk behind the cascade for a unique view through the waterfall. Then just to the side of Seljalandsfoss there is a small canyon waterfall, named Gljufrabui that is worth a short visit.

Meals included today: Breakfast

Day 3 Wonders of the South Shore, Black Beach es, Lava Center and the Hidden Valley (Self Drive)

Today continue with the exploration of the South Shore.

Visit yet another beautiful waterfall, Skogafoss. This powerful waterfall has a drop of 60 meters (196 feet), sometimes displaying a beautiful rainbow. From Skogafoss the road takes you to the black volcano beaches of the south. Here you find the Reynisfjara beach with the basalt columns standing tall a few meters from the shore, ideal for a short walk and a few photos, but beware of the sneaky waves!

Then drive off road to the “Hidden Valley” that offer a more intimate viewing of nature’s spectacle, far from the crowd. A quick stop at Vik, a little village where perhaps you can look at some Icelandic wool sweaters.

Visit the Lava Center (admission to be paid locally). The Lava Centre is an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland over millions of years. Examine the various volcanos—eruptions and lava flows, volcanic and rift systems, faults and glacial floods that make Iceland a showcase of volcanism. The center introduces the Katla Geopark plus Iceland’s elaborate monitoring system for surveying volcanos and earthquake zones.

Meals included today: Breakfast

Day 4 To the Glacier Lagoon, Zodiac Ride at Fjallsarlon Lagoon (Self Drive)

This morning drive East towards the famous Jökulsárlón glacier. Jokulsarlon lagoon is getting to be world famous as it has been featured in Hollywood movies such as James Bond, Batman Begins, and Tomb Raider. Not far from Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, there is another smaller Lagoon (Fjallsarlon Lagoon) where you will join a -one-hour Zodiac Boat ride.

The scenery of Fjallsárlón is extremely unique. The biggest glacier in Europe outside the arctic, Vatnajökull towers over the mountains in all its glory. The glacier crawls down a steep slope until it reaches down to the water. At the edge of the glacier, icebergs break off into the lagoon and drift serenely around before melting. The icebergs are different in size, shape, and hues that make the appearance of each iceberg unique. Wherever you look you can see how the natural forces of the glacier have shaped the landscape. Not only is the glacier constantly sculpting the landscape but also depending on the weather the scenery takes on different forms. This makes each visit to Fjallsárlón a unique individual experience because the scenery is constantly changing.

Next up Skaftafell nature reserve. Skaftafell is located just under Vatnajökull glacier, which is the biggest glacier in Iceland. In Skaftafell, you can enjoy a nice meal in this magnificent glacial setting.

Optional Activity (Ice Trekking)

Check-in to your hotel for overnight. Meals included today: Breakfast

Day 5 Explore the Diamond Beach and Head to the Eastern Fjords and Myvatn (Self Drive)

Today visit the Diamond Beach, just at the outlet of the Glacier Lagoon into the Ocean, where the waves ‘play ball’ with the floating Icebergs and throwing them back at the black beach, creating remarkable diamond-like ice sculptures. And you have included a one-hour Zodiac Boat ride in the lagoon to get even closer to the icebergs. Then, drive yourselves along the coast to the breathtaking Lake Myvatn Area, you will view a diverse combination of fjords, mirror like lakes, waterfalls and even a volcanic desert en route. This is a 6-hour nonstop drive, but if you choose to make stops along the way, it will be longer.

Meals included today: Breakfast

Day 6 Exploring the Volcanic Lake Myvatn (Self Drive)

Today we suggest you drive onto Namaskard, situated on the north side of Iceland’s Lake Myvatn, this geothermal wonder of hot sulfuric mud springs and steam springs (solfataras and fumaroles if you’re a geology nerd) is otherworldly. Black rivers and bubbling pools of sulfuric mud cut through the landscape.

Myvatn region, one of the most geologically active and stunningly beautiful areas in Iceland. There are also more species of duck here than anywhere in Europe. Myvatn lies on the north Atlantic ridge and therefor all this activity in the ground. Visit the beautiful Godafoss Waterfall one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 12 meters over a width of 30 meters. In the year 1000 the Lawspeaker Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði made Christianity the official religion of Iceland. After his conversion Þorgeir threw his statues of the Norse gods into the waterfall. If you are up to a short hike, you can visit the spectacular (yet less visited) Aldyjarfoss, featuring some of the most spectacular lava walls. Return to your hotel, located by Myvatn Lake with beautiful views over the lake.

Meals included today: Breakfast

Day 7 Speed Boat Whale Watching and Puffins Island / to Akureyri (Self Drive)

Today, drive your selves to Husavik, considered as the Whale Watching Capital of Europe. Meet on site for a Whale Watching Experience. This boat ride is a unique adventure at sea – watching the wonders of nature in the beautiful surroundings of Skjálfandi Bay, sheltered by the stunning mountains of Vík. With special speedboats we offer you more area to cover in search for the gentle giants.

A RIB is faster than the wind and makes it therefore more likely for us to find the big whales. Normally we do not have to leave our bay to look for whales of any kind, but on this tour, we focus on finding the bigger ones – further out. Nothing is guaranteed but, on this tour, your chances to encounter some of the world’s biggest animals ever increase – BIG TIME! On this tour we also include a visit to the Puffin Island, where you can experience thousands of puffins, the ‘Clowns of the Ocean’, during the nesting period (April 15th – August 20th).

Afterwards, drive yourselves to Akureyri for overnight. Akureyri is a city at the base of Eyjafjörður Fjord in northern Iceland. In the center, the 1940 Akureyri Church has stained-glass windows portraying scenes from Icelandic Christian history. There are views of the fjord from the forecourt. Nearby, the Akureyri Art Museum displays contemporary art from Iceland and farther afield. To the south are the Botanical Gardens, with specimens from across Iceland.
